Volunteer Services
Many of the same health care providers and volunteers still participate that have done so for the past 20+ years. Hundreds of individuals have given their time and financial support. Medical practices and hospitals have given millions of dollars in care. Over the last 22 years, the LCFC and its corps of medical and community volunteers have provided medical access to thousands of people without insurance. The backbone of the clinic is the volunteers.
The biggest environmental threat facing free clinics today is continued decline in professional medical volunteers. As the traditional family practice declines and more and more providers are employed by larger corporate practices, available time to give becomes squeezed. Demands placed on productivity and profit margin make for longer hours at places of employment for many potential medical volunteer recruits. Couple this with individuals with growing families as an example, and it further squeezes available time.
If volunteers were not here to take the time and money to support us, we would not be in the community. The Clinic is always looking for volunteers of any sort. Contact the Clinic at 440-277-6641 if you have any questions.
